After a stunningly successful outing last summer, Aberdeen Booked! Festival is back, bringing the buzz of the Edinburgh International Book Festival to Aberdeen for a three-day literary feast. Alongside two days of free sessions for local schools, there are great events for timid readers and book lovers alike, all held in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen City Library Services and Creative Learning, Aberdeen Arts Centre and Waterstones.
As well as great crime fiction events we’re showcasing local voices with a series of events featuring writers from the north east. There’s even a pop-up Waterstones bookshop, with a variety of drop-in activity making Aberdeen Arts Centre a hive of Festival activity.
Supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Books and stories are hugely diverse, and so are we.
Traditional events see authors talk about their writing and lives. They may read extracts and take your questions. You can usually chat with them afterwards too.
But from lively debates to fascinating reading workshops, creative sessions for kids to food events, and theatrical performances to cabaret nights, a Book Festival event can offer something special to everyone.
